Portraits and Figures

Un-Common Man

I have always been fascinated with people. Portraying people around me was the way I began my way in art, studying and learning.  I still do the same thing for the same reason,  perhaps just somewhat in different way.  I love to see that complete uniqueness, that noble presence and internal refinement that Rob Rieman following Thomas Mann describes as “nobility of spirit”.

I particularly love to find that nobility at the rock bottom of our society which is often the bed rock of our community.  When I see that spark of uniqueness and purpose above the mere self in someone’s expression I know I want to capture it.

This idea and search eventually led me to the ongoing Love My Neighbor series and Project as well.
